We would like to introduce you to the Acorn Club, our social activity group. The Acorn Club organizes and sponsors many different activities and events for residents and guests to enjoy at Oak Grove Park. We encourage you to read our monthly newsletter which provides detailed information about our events. Also, check the outdoor message boards for any updates, and location of events in case of changes due to weather. Due to COVID times, we are concerned about the health and safety of our residents, and taking extra precautions for many of our events. We are planning to have as many events as possible held outside this season.
A Pancake Breakfast is held each month, which includes eggs (made to order), pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. The cost is $5.00 (pay inside the Rec Hall). Bring your own coffee mug and table service (plates and silverware).
The following dinners will be provided: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Dinners will be free to residents. There will be a charge for guests. A sign-up sheet will be posted on an easel in the Recreation Hall for you to record the number of residents and guests attending. These dinners will be a prepared meal only. During COVID times, please do not bring side dishes to share as in the past. Bring your own plates, silverware, glasses, and personal beverage.
Dance entertainment is planned for three events: New Year’s Eve to welcome the New Year, Sweetheart Party in February to honor couples who have been married for 50 years, and the 50’s & 60’s Dance in March. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the Rec Hall so that we will know how many will be attending.
Additional Park activities include Bingo, Cards, Crafts, Exercise, Fun Shuffle, Pizza Party, Park Picnic, New Resident Welcome, Park Yard Sale, and Pool (Billiards). Or you can enjoy Shuffling, Lawn-Bocce, Corn Hole, Croquet, Putting-Green and Picnicking at “The Greens”.
The Acorn Club meetings are held on the first Monday of the month, from November through April. Street representatives are volunteers who also serve on this committee. There are many ways to volunteer at many of our events – set up, decorating, clean up, etc. We encourage your participation in the park activities that interest you. It is a great way to meet your neighbors in Oak Grove!
